About Heritage Preservation Resources

I would like to take an opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Zachary Jendro. I have a degree in Public History and I also have a wide variety of experience working with museums and archival institutions. I have focused my research and work on textiles, paper items, and photographs. Being from the Midwest of the United States and working with genealogical research materials, I developed a keen sense of people’s personal history and what that means to them. I had brainstormed the idea to open a new sort of business that would make the techniques and skills of a professional archivist available to the general public.  I have been attempting to relocate to the Ottawa Valley and hope to bring some of my specialized skills to the area.

An experienced archivist knows how to take the utmost care of the materials entrusted to him or her, and I felt that families, individuals, and private businesses could benefit from these services. The sad fact of the matter is: nothing lasts forever. Grandma’s precious bridal gown could disintegrate in a matter of months with poor handling. Even recently-taken photographs can fade beyond their usefulness without proper care. The work performed by Heritage Preservation Resources will be performed with the proper care and handling of an archivist, using the best acid-free and archivally-approved storage materials.
